Karpathos and Saria islands and islets of Karpathian Sea

The area includes the northern part of Karpathos Island and the island of Saria, which is separated from the northern edge of Karpathos Island by a narrow sea lane, as well as the islets of the Karpathian Sea.  The greater part of the area is mountainous with gorges and streams, and rocky and steep coasts. Phryganic vegetation dominates, while on the eastern shores wooded areas of pine-trees (Pinus brutia) are also found.

The area is part of the Natura 2000 network (GR4210023, GR4210003).
